This is why i am so into fashion.
It is more than a pair of shoes, a pencil skirt, or a fancy little black dress.
It is something you can dream about.
And hell yeah, i dream myself wearing this McQueen piece of art, several days nights now!
(of course i dream about the shoes too)

Shoe Horror

I would better walk down the Elm Street in an ordinary pair of shoes
(even my grandma's -she is a very stylish person you know) instead of walking anywhere in THESE shoes!

How the hell this happened?

Only one person would approve without seconds thoughts :

and only if she was about to star in one of his movies.

my (new) candy

First pair of booties ever!
(Timberland boots wore by me and everyone in my class in late 90's does not count)
I know my mom does not approve (yet another pair of shoes)- but still- i had to have them!
Now, i only have to wear them!

Allegra Chelsea Plattform Boots

at least he would approve! right?

Unconventional Beauty

A couple of months ago, i got as a present this different version of one of my favorite fairy tales.

Everyone (i hope) is familiar with the be loved 1959 animated film produced by Walt Disney and based on the story of Charles Perrault, where princess Aurora falls in deep sleep after wicked witch Maleficent curses her;
she could only be awaken by true love's kiss.

Writer Camila Morton invites Christian Lacroix to join her and together they reinvent the favorite ''once upon a time'' story.
Morton  wrote the book where Mr. Lacroix  did the amazing illustrations.
If nothing else, this book is worthwhile for the illustrations alone.
The French designer is the Prince who is not in need of a kiss, but of a fashion makeover.

In 2009 Christian Lacroix became a victim of the global financial crisis as the U.S.-owned fashion house bearing his name filed for court protection from creditors.
In July of the same year the couturier showed what may have been his last high-fashion collection.

In September 2010 Cate Blanchett wore an exquisite vintage Christian Lacroix Haute Couture gown. She looked divine.
The time i saw the pictures my jaws dropped.
Maybe one of the most beautiful gown i have ever seen if not the most beautiful.

And since this post was initially about a fairy tale- a little more of magic follows

In the end no one can tell if the fairy tale gone (completely) bad, since Mr.Lacroix has already found other ways to express his infinite talent.

blast from the past

I have this thing (since i was a child) which drove (and still does) my mother crazy : the tendency to collect and keep all kind of stuffs. It began with stickers, postcards and party invitation cards, and it grow so much on me  to the point that i started to keep even more ''weird'' things, my new t-shirt tag, a chocolate wrap,a receipt from a café at which i had the best time ever, a secret note someone gave me during class hour and so on. Of course i kept and all the ordinary stuffs too: concert tickets, plane tickets, pages from magazines or the whole magazine, you know how this goes!
I keep all these magical things in a box (or two) and every time i'm feeling blue, i do a little digging!
(result) : Spirit lifted! (mission accomplished)

Guess what : i keep (save/bookmark, you know the drill) everything that strikes my fancy during browsing the intertnet!
Folders, sub folders, new folders...then i make copies of them, delete them from my pc's hard drive and forget all about them for a while.Till i re-discover my treasures.

A popular folder category is FASHION of course.Photos of runway shows, stylish people, inspiring people, killer shoes i am dying to have (and usually i don't),garments that i would like to own (but i have no intention to rob a bank in order to afford them),bags, all sort of accessories, blah,blah,blah... (i bet you right click too- so you totally get the picture).

What i dug up today?

My spring 2009 obsession!
Every time i visited Net-a-Porter, i could not help myself drooling at the sight of a                      certain Alexander McQueen dress. And then the  jacket appeared...and i drooled more.Oh THE JACKET!
As much as i prayed i did not win the lottery at the time (neither any other time after that), so i did the only thing a broke girl can do :
-right click
                                                                -save image as

(only saved the back... )

(more foresighted - back and front)

(i do not recall the price tag at all- maybe that's better- i will continue dreaming)

Alexander Mcqueen had created a breathtaking collection for Spring 2009
under the title of Natural Dis-tinction Un-natural selection, inspired by Charles Darwin and the Theory of Evolution both in a conceptual and technical sense.

The natural versus the technical versus the super-natural.

He left a body of work whose power will never die.
